Zen Center of Pittsburgh

The Zen Center of Pittsburgh is a Soto Zen Buddhist Temple and community center founded in 1999. The Zen Center serves the community by offering regular services, daily meditation and monthly and annual Zen meditation intensive retreats, as well as yoga and tai chi and periodic workshops and seminars. We are located on a secluded lane in the hills above Sewickley on fourteen acres with stunning views of the western Pennsylvania forest.

  • On Sunday mornings we gather for zazen (sitting meditation), work practice, a short Soto Zen service, dharma talk and discussion. Our doors open at 8:30, with Zazen beginning at 9:30 am.

  • Newcomer Orientation is offered on the 1st Sunday of the month 8:45 – 9:15 am before the weekly service.

  • Introduction to Zen is offered the 3rd Wednesday of the month 7 – 8:30 pm.

  • We also offer a periodic classes and retreats.

Those coming for the first time, or new to Zen meditation are encouraged to attend one orientation or an Introduction to Zen session before joining our Sunday schedule in order to help you to fully participate.
