After 25 years, the highly anticipated update of Disney’s iconic The Lion King will arrive on Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. at The Tull Family Theater. The film has raves all around from initial reviews.
Tweets Fandango’s managing editor, “The Lion King is visually immaculate & a game-changer for visual effects. It’s absolutely stunning in every way. The music shines (Glover & Beyoncé take it to another level), the performances are great (Timon, Pumbaa & Scar steal many scenes) & the emotions run HIGH. Truly great.”
Says Syfy.com, “No one could deny that it’s still packed to the mane with emotion, amazing voice talent, and most importantly, dazzling visual effects that set a new standard for big-budgeted Hollywood productions.
“Inspired by the story of Shakspeare’s Hamlet, The Lion King tells the story of Simba (JD McCrary), a young lion who is exiled from the Pride Lands after the untimely and tragic death of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones reprising the role). Running far from home, Simba is brought up (as an adult, he’s voiced by Donald Glover) by a carefree duo comprised of a meerkat and warthog named Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen).”
