Sewickley, PA–Sewickley Cemetery launched its completely redesigned website today, announced Martha Chambers, Office Manager.
The new site maintains its emphasis on the cemetery’s stunning hilltop setting, with most photos by the Pulitzer-Prize-winning photojournalist Steph Anderson Chambers. The newest addition to the site? Virtual visitors to the cemetery can now search available graves, by section, and also see a 360-degree view of the surrounding area within the section. The cemetery staff is then just a phone call or email away to schedule an appointment to view various sites safely, following CDC social distancing guidelines.
Information about purchasing graves, niches or crypts, plus fees for other services are easily accessible. Interactive platforms including a searchable database for locating a loved one, GPS navigation system, 360-degree-view capability, tours and interactive memorial pages are still featured on the site. Sewickley Cemetery is the only cemetery in Western PA that combines all of these interactive capabilities on its website.
“When we started this project we were looking for new ways to engage and serve the families that we work with, but during this current crisis and time of social distancing, this new platform is essential to our ability to serve families,” said Scott Wendt, President of the Board. “Through our new website, families can virtually visit their loved ones, share memories and browse available property options with interactive ground level 360 degree views. Families still, of course, come to visit in person, but this is making the cemetery accessible to a much broader audience.”
As the site says, “You are invited to tour the cemetery, browse our website, or contact our office to learn more about how we safeguard history…here in one of the most stunning locations in Western Pennsylvania.” To safeguard and preserve the histories of the community is, to the cemetery, a sacred trust.
Sewickley Cemetery is an independent, non-profit and non-sectarian cemetery. To browse the new site, visit http://www.sewickleycemetery.com
