Cultural Screening: Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf

Saturday, April 13, 2019 | 7:17 PM

In preparation for the growing season and as part of The Tull Family Theater’s Cultural Screenings, Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf, will screen on Sunday, May 12, at 12:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 23, 7:30 p.m.

“During the most spontaneous sequence in Five Seasons, the accomplished garden designer Piet Oudolf is driving through Texas Hill Country to see the wildflowers, and gobsmacked by their beauty,” says the Hollywood Reporter. “’Just like paintings,’ he enthuses. The same could be said of his influential work, although his preference is for perennials that aren’t conventionally pretty, and palettes that consider grays and browns colors too.”

“It’s a curated wildness,” continues Hollywood Reporter. “’I put plants onstage,” Oudolf says. “And I let them perform.’”.”

The doc’s visions of Oudolf’s work, in gorgeous close-ups as well as from drone-photography angles and time-lapse perspectives, will undoubtedly send some viewers to his books and to the gardens themselves–just in time for your own new garden design! Tickets and information at
