Beaver Road’s Stone Bridges
Monday, October 7, 2019 | 10:52 AM
Following an earlier Native American path, the Beaver Road was once the main route from Pittsburgh through the Sewickley Valley into Ohio. In 1841, Allegheny County built stone arch bridges to carry traffic over Kilbuck Run and Little Sewickley Creek in what at the time was Ohio Township. Edgeworth’s Little Sewickley Creek Bridge #1 is still in use. The Kilbuck Run Bridge (pictured in 1905) once stood in what became Glenfield.
