AASD Hosts Bridger Back-to-School Kick-Off Event

The Ambridge Area School District will host the first annual Bridger Back-to-School Kick-Off from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at Wright Field House, 901 Duss Ave., Ambridge.

AASD families are invited to kick off the 2019-2020 School Year in style at the event, which will feature free food and activities for the whole family. Come and enjoy hot dogs, Frito Lay chips, cotton candy, sno-cones and popcorn, along with other goodies. Families also can enjoy a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course and get an up-close look at a fire truck and police cruiser.

Informational booths also will be available from the following organizations and sponsors: Highmark, WesBanco, AASD (Registration), Ambridge Fire Department, Ambridge Police Department, State Rep. Robert Matzie, Doterra Oils, Gallagher, New Alliance FCU, Huntington National Bank, Precision HR, Center for Hope, Positive Steps, Youth Ambassador Program, Housing Authority, Prevention Network, Mental Health Association, Family  Services, Health Resource Center, TIPS, Elder Vogel, Adagio Health, McDonald’s Baden, Laughlin Library, State Street PTO, and the Girl Scouts.

The event is being organized by the District, in conjunction with Beaver County TIPS. “It will be an afternoon filled with games, food, raffles, school supplies, school registration and much more,” said Eliana Jorgensen, AASD Social Worker. “We hope our students and families will connect with area organizations and resources, as well as get excited about school attendance.  Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the event is completely free of charge, and every AASD family is encouraged to attend!”

Free back packs and a school supply give-away will be held courtesy of Victory Family Church. The Ambridge Area Education Association is sponsoring the bounce houses and the sno-cone, popcorn and cotton candy stations. The Sweet Treat Truck from Wish 99.7 FM will make a special appearance.

Raffle baskets will be provided courtesy of WesBanco, Ambridge Little Bridgers, Highland 5th Grade Team, Ambridge Softball Team, Highland 3rd Grade Team, State Street PTO, Carpenter Motor Sports, Huntington National Bank, Fox’s Pizza, Shop ‘n Save, Anderson’s Candies and Sheetz.

Food sponsors include TIPS, FritoLay, Gallagher, Creekside Springs Water, McDonald’s Baden, Sheetz Baden, Pizza Hut and JD’s Best Snacks.

Following the kick-off event, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for the newly-renovated bridge at the entrance to the High School, which is located next to Wright Field House. Families are encouraged to join school officials to celebrate the unveiling.
