A Letter of Thanks to the Sewickley Community

The ladies of the Sewickley VFW Auxiliary would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated to our recent drive requesting deodorants, lip balms, and baby wipes. We met with Yvonne Darragh, President of The Southwest PA Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers, who will be sending packages to several locations, including Kandahar, Afghanistan. They were thrilled to get your contributions.

Your generosity humbles us. We will be conducting another drive during the month of October, and look forward to aiding the Blue Star Mothers and local Veteran organizations in their efforts to care for our troops and Veterans.

Bonnie Weber, on behalf of the Sewickley VFW Auxiliary

P.S. Despite having done so for us in the past, the Herald has told us they “do not publish letters of thanks,” so this was our only recourse to express our thanks to you. This is very disappointing to us, as we realize that many people still rely on their printed newspapers for their news, and that others do not have computer access. Further, this is not a personal letter of thanks to one individual, but a thank you to a community for supporting US Troops and Veterans.  What better use of the press? At any rate, we would very much appreciate it if you could let others who you know have contributed to our cause, but who probably won’t see this post, know that we sincerely appreciate their support.

Thank you.
