Morning traffic snarled after multi-vehicle crash along I-79 near Neville Bridge

A multi-vehicle accident along Interstate 79 near the Neville Bridge snarled southbound traffic for several miles after both lanes were closed, according to state police.

Police, fire and EMS responded to the scene at about 8:24 a.m. Thursday.

A supervisor for Allegheny County 911 said there were no injuries reported.

The accident forced both inbound lanes to be shut down for nearly an hour until the vehicles could be removed from the travel lanes.

Both lanes were reopened at about 9:20 a.m. but traffic continued to move slowly in both directions, according to video posted on PennDOT’s website.

The scene was cleared shortly before 10 a.m.
