Sewickley Borough incumbent loses seat to newcomer

Sewickley Borough council incumbent John Dunn has lost his bid for re-election.

The Republican, who received 42.9% of the Ward 1 vote, fell to Democrat Julie Barnes, who received 56.56%, according to unofficial results from the Allegheny County Elections Division.

In Ward 2, incumbents Cynthia J. Mullins and Hendrik van der Vaart will retain their seats, receiving 43.85% and 40.59% of the votes, respectively. Independent Bridgett Bates fell short, getting 14.96% of the vote.

In Ward 3, Democrat Thomas G. Rostek was selected with 62.31% of the vote. Republican Nellie S. Kraus lost with 37.69%.

Sewickley council is comprised of nine members, three from each ward. Council members serve four-year, unpaid terms in office.
