Quaker Valley girls lacrosse hopes to keep winning streak intact

The Quaker Valley girls lacrosse team exploded for 19 goals in a rout of Trinity on Monday.

The Quakers go for their third win in a row Thursday evening as they travel to Chartiers Valley for a 7:30 Section 2-AA matchup.

QV’s defense was on point against Trinity as it held the Hillers to just two goals. The Quakers, 3-1 overall and 2-0 in section play, have scored 52 goals and surrendered 29.

Sewickley Academy baseball gets in win column

The Sewickley Academy baseball team took its lumps at times over its first four games, but Wednesday at Wild Things Park in Washington, the Panthers turned the tables on their early fortunes.

A 15-4 victory over Northgate put Sewickley Academy at 1-4 overall and 1-3 in Section 4-2A.

The Panthers had scored 19 runs in their four losses but had also give up 49.

Sewickley Academy will go after win No. 2 on Friday at home against section foe Sto-Rox.

QV track resumes section meets

The Quaker Valley track and field teams continue Section 3-AA competition Thursday at New Brighton High School against New Brighton and the Ellis School.

The Quaker boys are 2-1 in the section with wins over Cornell and Winchester Thurston and a loss to Freedom at a quad meet last week at Chuck Knox Stadium.

The QV girls breezed past Cornell, Winchester Thurston and Freedom to start 3-0 in the section.

The teams will face OLSH and Hopewell in a home section meet Tuesday before next Thursday’s Butler Invitational.
