Quaker Valley boys tennis hopes to complete undefeated section slate

The Quaker Valley boys tennis team wraps up Section 2-AA play Friday afternoon, weather permitting, against Ambridge at 3:30 p.m. at Hopewell High School.
The Quakers are 7-0 in the section and 9-2 overall.
QV stepped away from section action Thursday and suffered a 3-2 loss to Thomas Jefferson from Section 1-AA in a preview of a potential WPIAL team-tournament match.
The WPIAL AA team playoffs are slated to begin May 1.
Sewickley Academy baseball seeks second straight victory
The Sewickley Academy baseball team will go for two wins in a row when it hosts Sto-Rox in Section 4-2A play Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The Panthers started the season with four losses, including three in section play, but they snapped that streak with a 15-4 triumph over Northgate on Wednesday at Wild Things Park.
Sto-Rox has struggled out of the gate this season at 0-3. The Vikings are 0-2 in section with losses to Avonworth (18-1) and Northgate (3-2).
Sewickley Academy will jump into playoff position in the section standings with a win.
Quaker Valley softball hopes to halt winless streak
The Quaker Valley softball team hopes to snap a three-game losing skid as it travels to Ambridge on Friday for a 4 p.m. Section 3-4A contest.
The Quakers are 1-4 overall and 1-3 in section play. Their lone win came in 6-5 result against Blackhawk on April 2.
QV’s task won’t be an easy one as Ambridge is off to a 5-1 start overall. The Bridgers are 2-1 in the section.
Ambridge is one run separated from a perfect record. It fell to Knoch 10-9 in a section game April 2.
