Quaker Valley baseball goes for 5th straight win to begin season

The Quaker Valley baseball team hopes to stay undefeated in Section 2-4A and overall when it hosts section foe Blackhawk on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. at Esmark Field at Bouchard Family Park.

The Quakers are 4-0 overall and 1-0 section play.

QV has outscored its opponents 30-6 and toppled 5A North Hills by a 5-1 count last Saturday.

The Quakers also will play Thursday at New Castle and Friday at Beaver before returning home Monday to face Central Valley.

Sewickley Academy boys lacrosse hoping to add to victory

The Sewickley Academy boys lacrosse team hopes to build off last Thursday’s win over North Catholic as it returns to action with a section matchup against Winchester Thurston.

The game is set for Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Nichols Field.

The Panthers’ 6-3 triumph against North Catholic snapped a two-game losing streak and set them at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the section.

Sewickley Academy has scored 17 goals so far and surrendered 22.

Panthers softball hopes to get on a roll

With only two games in the books this season, the Sewickley Academy softball team hopes to play catch up with its schedule, both overall and in Section 1-1A.

The Panthers are 1-1 overall and in section heading into a section game Wednesday afternoon at 4 against Rochester.

Sewickley Academy scored 16 runs in a season-opening win over Quigley Catholic. The team wasn’t as fortunate two days later as it was not able to keep pace with Union in a 24-14 setback.

Union and Bishop Canevin both lead the section with 2-0 records.
