It’s a one-on-one matchup Thursday evening for a WPIAL playoff spot from Section 2-4A as Quaker Valley and Ambridge will do battle at Ambridge High School at 7:30.
The Quakers and Bridgers are tied for fourth place in the section at 4-7. Ambridge won the first meeting, 49-46, on Jan. 14. QV and Ambridge both are 2-3 in the section since then.
The Quakers hope to qualify for the WPIAL postseason for the first time since 2013. Last year, they finished 4-8 (fifth place) in the section as Ambridge took the final playoff spot with a 7-5 mark.

As the Quaker Valley/Sewickley Academy combined swimming and diving teams finalize preparation for Friday and Saturday’s Midwestern Athletic Conference meet at Moon High School, they also will compete at Section 2-AA foe Hopewell on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
This meet will be swimming only.
QV/SA returns to action after splitting a section meet with Central Valley one week ago. The girls won 89-63, while the boys were edged out 81-76.
The teams added 13 MAC qualifying marks and six WPIAL cuts.
Panthers hope to strengthen playoff resume against Eden Christian

Sewickley Academy also improved to 10-6 overall with its section victory over Union (57-34) on Monday.
