Leet Township police have issued an alert about vehicle break-ins and are urging residents to follow tips to thwart crime.

“It seems that almost annually, out of nowhere, strings of vehicle break-ins occur throughout the area,” police wrote on their Facebook page. “Unfortunately we can not be everywhere at once.”

Earlier this week, car break-ins were reported on Beaver Road in Ambridge and police said others have been reported in surrounding municipalities.

Tips to deter thieves include parking in well-lit areas and leaving porch lights on, police said.

“Don’t leave any loose change, wallets, purses, etc. in your vehicles,” police said in the Facebook post. “If they see it, they’ll get it.”

Anyone who sees suspicious activity should report it to 911.
