Tuesday, March 24, 2020 | 11:57 AM

Heritage Valley Health System held a day of covid-19 testing Monday at the Heritage Valley Center Township Medical Neighborhood. Seventy-one patients with physician orders were tested as the health system trialed the process.

Community testing will continue at the Center Township location from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The patient must have a physician order entered in the Heritage Valley ordering system. Once the order is in the system, patients can schedule a drive-up appointment by calling 1-800-721-6237.

In addition, the health system has canceled all elective surgeries and procedures, including endoscopies and cardiac catheterizations, at the Sewickley, Beaver and Kennedy locations through March 31. Exceptions include:

• Patients that will suffer an adverse event if surgery is not done within this time period.

• Patients with severe symptoms that can only be treated with surgery.

• Patients who will have a delay in a critical diagnosis.
