More than 135 friends and neighbors attended the second Tapas Talks Speakers Series presentation on Jan. 27 at Allegheny Country Club. Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, gave a dynamic talk about the robust turnaround at Pittsburgh International Airport in the number of nonstop destinations served, record passenger traffic growth and an ambitious Terminal Modernization Program.
The Empty Bowls fundraising event has become a staple project of Just Harvest and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The goal of the two organizations is to work toward eliminating hunger and poverty. Sweetwater Center for the Arts in Sewickley held a studio session to create bowls for the Empty Bowls Dinner, which will take place March 15 at Rodef Shalom Congregation in Shadyside.
The Women’s Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art — as it has since 1961 — underwrote the annual tree exhibition and kicked off the holiday season with the Carnegie Trees Opening Celebration on Dec. 4.
