The Women’s Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art — as it has since 1961 — underwrote the annual tree exhibition and kicked off the holiday season with the Carnegie Trees Opening Celebration on Dec. 4.

“This year’s theme was ‘Artistically Inspired,’ because each of the five trees represented a piece of art from the museum’s collection,” said Laurie Bly, event co-chair along with Sandy Roberts.

Both women are Sewickley residents, as is Women’s Committee President Liz Wilson.

More than 350 guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the museum’s dazzling Hall of Architecture, where the real evergreen trees are on display along with the 18th-century Neapolitan presepio (nativity) through Jan. 6. Following the reception, 130 attended the Winter Wonderland Patron Dinner.

The florals and event design were done by Allison McGeary Florist.
