At least one person was injured during a rush-hour crash this morning near the Sewickley Bridge.

According to Moon Township Police Chief Greg Seaman, three vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred just before 9 a.m. on Route 51, in the area of Quaker Valley Ambulance Authority.

Seaman said that initial reports indicated a person had been ejected from a vehicle.

“We don’t believe that happened in the true sense,” he said. “One of the drivers was laying outside, one leg was still in the car. I’m assuming they tried to get out.”

That driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Seaman said the crash appears to have occurred when a vehicle in the north-bound lane attempting to make a left turn was hit from behind. The first vehicle was pushed into the south-bound lane, then struck by a second vehicle.

The crash caused delays along the busy roadway. Seaman said the area was closed for at least 30 minutes.

The crash is under investigation.
