Big Sewickley Creek Watershed focus of meeting
Saturday, June 15, 2019 | 6:00 AM
Allegheny Land Trust will host a night of discussion and status surrounding the Big Sewickley Creek Watershed Conservation & Stewardship Plan.
The purpose of the plan is to provide a better public understanding of the watershed’s natural and cultural assets, threats to water quality and property due to flooding, conflicting interests and resolutions to those conflicts, and opportunities to maintain the watershed as a beautiful and healthy place to reside and recreate.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Marshall Township Municipal Building, 525 Pleasant Hill Road, Wexford.
During the public meeting, the land trust will:
• Introduce and provide an update on the project, and outline what happens next.
• Get a better understanding of the functions of a watershed.
• Collect ideas for the specific elements to be included in the plan.
• Understand ways residents can impact, protect and improve the community’s water quality.
