Join Sweetwater Center for the Arts from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 17 and hear the words and expressions of poets from the (sub)Verses Social Collective. This group of black, female writers will share their writings, offer a literary history lecture and be available to discuss their works individually with the audience.
The five presenters will be Bonita Lee Penn, Barbara Evans, Doralee Brooks, Sheila Carter Jones and literary historian Loreena Amos.
Presented in conjunction with Sweetwater’s annual MAVUNO Festival of African American Art and Culture, the poetry reading is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, visit www.sweetwaterartcenter.org.
